Background

"Working Mathematically - Activities that teach" is a series of 5 workbooks with carefully sequenced hands-on activities that cover "working mathematically" outcomes. Through working mathematically, students build an understanding of crucial mathematical concepts and relationships. They also come to appreciate the significance of mathematics to other learning areas and its application to everyday life.

The philosophy behind the "Working Mathematically - Activities that teach" workbooks is that of the mathematician, Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662) who wrote: "We are usually convinced more easily by reasons we have found ourselves than by those which have occurred to others".
