A repeat of our update for schools interested in using
modules for courses in 2002.
What: All B,
C and D stage modules will be available for the start of 2002. This would
provide a complete mathematics course for the full range of students
in Year 8. Samples of programmes
that could be used to implement these modules are now available from our web
site at this link:
During 2002 the E, F and G stage modules for year 9 will
be further developed, trialled and released.
From where:
OTRNet has recently organised for our Integrated Maths Modules to be available
in Western Australia from A & M Bookshop and from Wooldridges. This
will enable schools with booklists operated by these suppliers to easily
booklist our modules. Modules will continue to be available direct from
OTRNet, using fax, email or our Online Ordering to place your
order.

MAWA Secondary Convention reminder
A reminder for Western Australian teachers who have
registered for the Secondary Convention. You can find out more about
our modules by attending the "How and Why" session on Tuesday 4th December.
The session will cover the purpose of using modules to support your maths
teaching and will also include tips on how to use them successfully in
your classroom. You'll walk away with a few new ideas (plus a new
student module) for your teaching in 2002.
OTRNet will be exhibiting at the Convention so you can look through modules
on display, chat, or ask questions about the project. I look forward to
seeing you there.
This years Secondary Convention starts Sunday 2nd December
at All Saint's College In Bullcreek and continues Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th
December at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. Further details can be
gained from the MAWA Office on 94421308.

Networking Tables - A primary maths resource
Ellita DeNardi, author of Turn The Tables and the
Networking Tables series has once again written a sample from her materials that
we can supply to you for free. This sample focuses on some of the
magic of mathematics and relates to material from the 6X book. The sample consists of copies of the
relevant pages from Networking Tables and Notes from Ellita on their use.

6. A great
web based resource
At the Middle School Teachers Conference held on
Saturday 24th November I was able to catch up with what Mike Sinagra and
Murray Polglase have been doing with a web site they have constructed
to give teachers access to materials linked to the Student Outcome
Statements. Maths Share is a
collaborative project which is a wonderful resource for teachers already, and
could grow significantly if Mike and Murray's visions are matched by teacher
support.
Have a look at what is currently available and perhaps find some time to lend
support. The link to this site is (NO LONGER AVAILABLE - Nov 2003)
Remember that OTRNet's Web Links page has links
to this and many other useful sites for maths teachers and students. You
can find the links page here: http://www.otrnet.com.au/Weblinks/weblinks.html
