2.    Spreadsheets category for 2001

As promised in previous newsletters we can now bring you information on a terrific set of Spreadsheets that will be available from our Subscription Service in 2001.  Paul Brown, a secondary teacher who presented the excellent session "Learning Mathematics by Using a Spreadsheet" at the MAWA Conference in August is preparing a package of spreadsheets for use in teaching mathematics.  Paul has some very creative ideas on using spreadsheets to help students master mathematical concepts and gain employable skills at the same time.  As the feature for this month we have attached one of the spreadsheets to this e-mail as a free sample of this category.  Open it up in MS Excel and see how high you can get the value of your wardrobe to be!  Category D:2001 of our subscriptions service will carry these spreadsheets.

You can access this category via the following page: http://www.otrnet.com.au/mathssub.html

3.    Primary Resource Sample:

For primary teachers of mathematics we have available a sample page from "Networking Tables".  A top selling series of books written by Ellita De Nardi that support the Number strand of primary mathematics courses.  To access this page as well as some useful explanatory notes by Ellita just send a blank e-mail to this address at OTRNet and we will forward the page with notes to you in pdf format for use in your classroom.

4.    MAWA Secondary Convention:

For our Western Australian readers start planning now for MAWA's Secondary Convention at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle on 27th and 28th of November.  OTRNet will have a Trade Display where you can browse our products or buy on the spot at reduced prices.  During the Convention we are running a session on Monday 27th from 12:05 p.m. to 1:05 p.m. titled "Looking Into Integrated Maths Modules" where you can look closely at what is in our modules, how to use them, and how they fit into our schools.  You will also be able to take one home for free!  As usual with our conference displays we will be offering prizes to teachers who 'browse' our products.

Come along, support MAWA and take home some valuable professional development.

5.    Victorian Conference:

MAV's annual conference takes place on 7th & 8th December 2000.  Although OTRNet will not have its own display at the conference Victorian teachers will be able to browse through our products at the "Educational Directions Publications" display.  Copies of all of our printed materials plus information on our subscription categories will be available for you to look at.  We are aiming to have our own display and do some sessions at next years conference.

6.    Feedback Competition:

While we are busy building our new Subscriptions areas for 2001 its a great time to receive feedback from this years users about the sites.  If you had a problem with something let us know.  If you want an extra category or feature in 2001 let us know.  Let us know what type of files you downloaded.  If you thought the service was great, please let us know that as well.  All correspondence sent to feedback@otrnet.com.au will be entered into a prize draw with the winner getting a free subscription to one of our categories for 2001!

7.    New web site features:

Look out for two new features on our web site over the next month.  To better service our clients and visitors to our site there will be an archive of past Newsletters so you can find that important piece of information you missed or access that sample file.  As well as this we are building a Corrections Page to enable purchasers of our 1st Edition texts access to corrections for any errors that may have crept in during the publishing process.  We're sorry they are present, we'll correct them in the next edition but at least you can fix them as soon as you find them!

Dont forget that if you have completed our free registration you can order online to get 5% discount on normal prices!
